Market Opportunity
AskBio will capitalize on the significant market opportunity of a poorly served Duchenne's muscular dystrophy patient population. The prevalence of Duchenne's and Becker's muscular dystrophy ("DMD") as the most frequent lethal inheritable childhood disease constitutes an estimated potential market in excess of $3 billion. The patient conditions are chronic, often progressively debilitating, and lethal.AskBio's initial protein therapeutic will be a treatment for DMD. AskBio expects the FDA to fast track the clinical development of this treatment, and to obtain orphan drug status, which will allow certain tax credits and market exclusivity for a seven-year period. With no current viable treatment AskBio intends to achieve a significant, if not entire, market share with the launch of Biostrophin™ in five years. An estimated Ninety-six percent of patients with DMD have been reported to have signs of cardiomyopathy develop. The clinical data generated from the DMD Phase I clinical trial will be used to validate AskBio's platform technology for synergistic therapeutic programs, such as cardiovascular diseases, including the treatment of congestive heart failure, which is a $14 billion market, with a 10% annual growth rate.AskBio is currently seeking private institutional and individual investment furthering the drug development process.
