DNA Manufacturing Scientist

The DNA Manufacturing Associate Scientist will manufacture and assist in analytical characterization of research-grade DNA. The DNA will support capsid technology development, intellectual property portfolio and progression of internal and external early-stage gene therapy programs, rAAV vector manufacturing and process development.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Responsible for DNA manufacturing utilizing various bacterial strains to support rAAV technology improvements and progression of early-stage gene therapy programs
  • Responsible for DNA manufacturing to support rAAV vector manufacturing
  • Support DNA manufacturing process development activities for development and optimization of improved processes, technology transfer and training, internal and external manufacturing and analytical development activities
  • Equipment and laboratory cleanliness
  • Organization of supply and reagent inventories
  • Evaluate and summarize manufacturing and analytical results
  • Prepare internally reviewed manufacturing reports

About you: 

  • MS or PhD degree in a biological or engineering discipline (biotechnology, microbiology, biology, chemical engineering, chemistry/biochemistry, or equivalent)
  • Self-motivated, organized, capable of working independently, as well as in a group environment to collaborate with process development staff on experimental studies including work with external contract manufacturing organizations
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices is a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and computer skills are required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) required; experience with JMP a plus
